When I installed my short ram I noticed a big loss of low end torque and my gas mileage was also affected significantly. It was suggested I try an intake with a smaller diameter, and/or going with true cold air intake instead. I decided to do both. Here's how to do it:

  1. Buy a standard mandrel bent U bend tube available from JCWhitney (part # ZX813035N)
  2. Cut the tube according the picture. The way I figured this out was to take some rough measurements of the engine bay and mocked it up on the computer. After mocking it up, I visually estimated where the first cut (between the green and yellow bits below) by holding the tube up to the engine bay and then started cutting away.
  3. Wash all the saw dust and other crap off of the metal and paint them. I used high heat black paint.
  4. Assemble the pieces with some 2" couplers from the hardwares store and use any generic short ram/cai filter. You'll need an extra coupler to use as a shim if you have a 3" filter.
  5. I had to switch the location of the top two pieces cause the intake needed to extend out from the throttle body a little before turning.
